Data the app uses

• Shop domain and Shopify session data needed for authentication.
• Product and media metadata used to find images with missing or low-quality alt text.
• Generated alt text drafts, merchant edits, publish attempts, scan activity, settings, and billing status.
• Operational monitoring and product analytics events used to diagnose errors, uptime issues, installs, and first-scan usage.

Purpose of processing

We process this data to authenticate merchants, provide alt text review and generation, publish approved updates to Shopify, maintain billing and usage limits, answer support requests, and keep the app reliable and secure.

AI generation

Product image URLs and product context can be sent to AI generation providers, including Anthropic and OpenAI, to create draft alt text. Merchants can review and edit generated drafts before publishing them back to Shopify products.

Retention

We retain merchant app data while the app is installed and as needed to provide the service. When a subscription is cancelled or the app is uninstalled, merchant workflow data is scheduled for deletion after 30 days unless a shorter Shopify redaction request or a legal obligation requires different handling.

Third-party processors

The app uses Shopify for platform APIs and billing, Anthropic and OpenAI for AI generation, PostHog for monitoring and product analytics, and a hosting provider for application and database infrastructure. These providers process data only to operate the app.

Merchant rights

Merchants can ask to access, correct, export, or delete app data by contacting support. Shopify privacy requests are also handled for customer data requests, customer redaction, and shop redaction.
